Localized Cryotherapy
Cryotherapy is a therapy technique that uses vaporized liquid nitrogen to treat an injured area of the body by decreasing pain and inflammation. The nitrogen has a more dramatic cooling effect when compared to water or ice.
Our unit is localized cryotherapy, meaning you do not need to climb into a whole body chamber. The treatment is specific as the vapor is run directly over the area of the injury. The unit also features guiding sensors making sure the treatment is performed at an optimal distance from the site of injury to provide optimal therapeutic benefit. Additionally, it has safety features in the form of thermal sensors that give feedback on the body’s skin temperature.
We also offer facials in order to reduce inflammation and improve blood flow to the skin.
Cryotherapy is commonly used to decrease pain and inflammation for:
- Acute muscle strains
- Ligament sprains
- Tendonitis
- Bursitis
- Soft tissue injuries
NormaTec Pulse Recovery Units
The NormaTec Pulse Recovery systems are dynamic compression devices used for recovery and rehabilitation. The technology is designed to help athletes recover faster between training and after high intensity performances. The system includes a control unit and attachments for the hips, legs and arms. The unit uses compressed air to massage the limbs, mobilize fluid, and speed recovery with sequential massage compression.
When first using the system, you will experience a pre-inflate cycle, during which the connected attachment will mold to your exact body shape. The unit will then start to massage the affected are by starting at the lowest point of the body and slowly working towards the higher point of the body that the attachment reaches. It will then begin to compress and releases in a pulsing matter, going back and forth from the highest and lowest body part, until the session is complete.
Marc Pro Plus
Marc Pro Plus is a unique electrical stimulation device that is able to provide substantial increased recovery rates and pain relief. This device is not a TENS unit; which are intended to mask pain while connected. Marc Pro Plus is designed to be easy, comfortable, and intended to be non-fatiguing.
During each contraction, the signal is transmitted to the muscle for a longer period of time, allowing for differing levels of muscle fiber recruitment. Fibers which are valuable, yet difficult to contract, can be stimulated through the use of this unit. This leads to optimal recruitment for our conditioning and recovery goals, while preventing any discomfort, tetanization, or fatigue of the muscle.
Cold Laser Therapy
The goal of laser therapy is to deliver light energy units from infrared laser radiation, called photons, to damaged cells. It is the consensus of experts is that photons absorbed by the cells through laser therapy stimulate the mitochondria to accelerate production of ATP. This biochemical increase in cell energy is used to transform live cells from a state of illness to a stable, healthy state.
Cold Laser therapy offers a non-intrusive option to acupuncture and surgery. It also provides a non-addicting treatment that eliminates the complications of long-term drug treatment programs. Cold laser are widely use for treatment of:
• Acute and chronic pain
• Ligament sprains
• Muscle strain
• Soft tissue injuries
• Tendonitis
• Arthritis
• Tennis elbow
• Back pain
• Bursitis
• Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
• Fibromyalgia
Game Ready
Game Ready is a therapeutic device that is centered around cold compression. With Game Ready, we can specifically control the pressure, temperature, and duration of each session to maximize healing and recovery benefits. Game Ready’s active compression element squeezes greater benefits than just cold therapy alone. Game Ready’s anatomic, circumferential wraps envelope the injury or surgery site and then conform to the contours of the body through pneumatic compression, thus assuring better 360 surface contact with the area and therefore more effective cooling of the tissue.
Game Ready attachments allow us to treat the following areas; shins, knees, hips, ankles. shoulders, low back, forearms, and elbows.
Interferential Stimulation
Interferential current stimulation (IFS) is a type of electrical stimulation; the electrical current is applied to the affected area using four electrodes. The stimulation of local nerve cells can have a pain reducing/anaesthetic effect due to blocking the transmission of the pain signals (pain gate mechanism), or by stimulating the release of pain reducing endorphins (opioid mechanism).
Muscles are also stimulated as muscle contraction occur from the electrical current. This can also help overcome inhibition often caused by local injury and swelling. In addition, IFS can increase localized blood flow which can improve healing by reducing swelling.
Alter-G Anti-Gravity Treadmill
Originally conceived by Dr. Robert Whalen to design effective exercise regimens for NASA’s astronauts, Differential Air Pressure (DAP) technology has been adapted by AlterG for use in training and rehabilitation. Cleared by the FDA in 2008, the AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill is a medical device that can be used for:
• Rehabilitation of lower extremity injuries • Treatment of neurological conditions • WeiRehabilitationght reduction • Aerobic conditioning • General training to combat the diseases of aging
Unweighting is achieved in the AlterG by using air in a pressure-controlled chamber to gently lift the user. Precise calibration using our patented technology allows for very specific unweighting from 100-20% of the users body weight in 1% increments. Something no other unweighting modality can do. Clinical studies show that these treadmills can help decrease ground reaction forces in walking and running. The restoration of normal gait mechanics is paramount to optimal recovery and can be accelerated by our patented unweighting technology.
Sunlighten Sauna
At Ohio Sports Chiropractic and Rehab we want to deliver the best products that empower a healthy lifestyle. That’s why we invested in a Sunlighten 3-in-1 infrared sauna. Sunlighten is still the only sauna technology that delivers near, mid, and far infrared heat rays at the precise levels needed to provide specific results, based on 56 different reviewed research studies.
Sunlighten has taken sauna therapy to the next level with NASA-inspired, near infrared LEDs, and preset wellness programs for; detoxification, cardiovascular stimulation, pain relief, relaxation, weight loss, and anti-aging. In addition to all these great benefits you can get with sauna therapy, this is also a great, healthy, and safe choice to help build your body’s ability to fight off certain illnesses and recovery faster from training!
PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields)
PEMF is a widely growing and effective therapy used to help decrease pain and inflammation and reverse the injury process at the cellular level. It helps to enhance the body’s natural recovery process, assist with muscle fatigue and discomfort after exercise, increase energy or support relaxation, etc. Our IMRS 2000 Prime system is top of the line in PEMF treatment.
What conditions is PEMF helpful in providing pain relief and faster recovery? A recent review of the literature shows that short term bouts of PEMF treatment can be effective in treatment of common musculoskeletal injuries such as:
- tennis elbow
- tendinitis
- disc injuries
- chronic pain
- arthritic pain
